The Real Truth About Working for Yourself

I’ll be the first to say it — I love working for myself. Honestly, I’ll always recommend it to anyone who’s even thinking about taking the leap. There are so many good parts: you’re the boss, you get to do things your way, and because it’s yours, you’ll naturally work harder and longer. You’re invested. You care. And for me, that’s all I need to say that working for yourself is worth it.

But… (and there’s always a “but”) — you should also know it’s not all sunshine and roses. When you work for yourself, there will be hard days. Some days will make you feel like you’ve failed — not just yourself, but everyone who believed in you. On those days, you’ve got to tell the negative voices in your head to shut up and move along.

Today was one of those days for me. You know that pain scale doctors use? Well, I’ve been sitting at about an 8.5 out of 10. If I move the wrong way, it’s lights out — I almost fall over from the pain. So the goal today has been: don’t move the wrong way (easier said than done, by the way).

And yet, even with that, I’d still rather be in all sorts of pain working for myself than sitting comfortably at a desk for some big company. Because yes — this life has hardships. But it’s mine. And it’s one I can be proud of.

I work hard every day to make sure that someday, when I’m gone, there’s something real to pass on to my kids. A dream that started small but grew because we refused to give up.

Thanks for reading, and I hope you have a great day. Keep chasing your own dreams — bumps, bruises, and all.
